The 34th Annual Dragon Ball returned stronger than ever, in fact it was sold-out weeks in advance after finally returning to an in-person event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Upwards of 1200 guest patrons and dignitaries were welcomed with a reception that was bounty-full and presented by young Chinese-Canadian chefs under a theme of “from memories to creativity”.
Prior to a lavish sit-down dinner, a very well dressed crowd mingled with performers and the God of Good Fortune for some excellent photographic moments.
All would agree that Nicole Servinis and Winston Sih were a perfect choice to emcee this event and introduce acts like the featured magic show by Louise Chan and many others. In theme with the Year of the Rabbit and a Dragons resilience, all necessary proceeds will go towards Yee Hong’s services and programs for some 8000 seniors now on a 10 year wait list. There are now 4 community centres, but the goal of the building fund is to create 3 more.
An urgent need, however already Yee Hong has raised 24$million over decades and with the goal set for 2023 being another 6$million, hopefully the 2023 Dragon Ball will get them to where they need to be for an ever aging community.
As always, our thanks to Cathy Zhou and the Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation for the invitation to cover the 34th Annual Dragon Ball.
