The Giving Hearts 10th Anniversary Gala

The Giving Hearts 10th Anniversary Gala was held February 18th at Hazelton Manor in Vaughan. Gala Founder Joe Azzopardi reminded guests in his opening remarks by saying “our mandate since 2011 has remained to provide funding to two critical areas of cancer treatment: the PYNK Program and Prostate Cancer research at Sunnybrook Hospital”. Returning Emcee, award winning journalist/broadcaster, Elvira Caria had the energy to match this exciting evening of success stories and accomplishments. We all know someone that has been touched by cancer. Corporate lawyer Anne Madden underwent successful treatment at Sunnybrook Hospital at a young age.

After that positive experience in 2020 with Sunnybrook’s PYNK Program for young women with breast cancer, she began fundraising for the program through Black Lab Brewing which she co-founded. Her story and that experience has inspired many others to support PYNK. Hazelton Manor is known for their exceptional cuisine and service starting this night with antipasto food stations, a popular oyster bar and could you believe then a sit-down dinner with dessert. Don’t worry, live entertainment from JC Musica, Blu Soul and DJ Anthony had that handled with lots of dancing exercise till the late hours.

Congratulations must be given to the Giving Hearts Gala Committee, those many volunteers and also thanks to generous donations raised by returning corporate donors.
