Fete Chinoise returned to the Shangril-La Hotel Toronto

Fete Chinoise returned to the Shangril-La Hotel Toronto January 28th with their 8th annual signature event with the theme “Into the Unknown” to celebrate the human spirit in the face of unknowns, uncertainty and adversity, in other words, taking a leap of faith. The entire 3rd floor of the hotel never looked better, dressed in trees, foliage and floral displays. Guests experienced outstanding live music, food stations, fashion and performance arts, all capturing Chinese traditions and legacies. This all takes years of planning with many volunteers so the Fete Chinoise Team under the leadership of Deborah Lau-Yu must be congratulated on one of the finest galas of the year. Everyone dressed-to-impress, especially the ladies. The Year of the Rabbit was presented everywhere for some classy photo opportunities. The evening began with a bang, literally as a young band of percussionists accompanied a Lion Dance by the Wushu Project. DJ Michael Coombs knows how to please a young crowd, but the real action was on stage later from guest performers and finally concluding with the St. Royals who packed the dance floor with hits of the day. What a way to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year while supporting the Scarborough Health Network through donations and bids from the popular silent auction.
